News from 2009 Festival of Trees 2009 Beautifully decorated trees adorn the Electric City Trolley Museum in Scranton for the entire month of December into first week of January. Trees are decorated by area organizations & businesses. This year’s theme is “The Joy of Giving.” This annual event benefits the Toys for Tots Campaign. Oakwood Terrace staff and residents participated with the entry below: " On Angels' Wings". The residents created hand-made ornaments from seashells.

Memory Walk 2009 "The Mighty Oaks" of Oakwood Terrace participated in the 2009 Memory Walk held at Mellow Park in Blakely on October 3. The team raised over $2,200 for the cause.

Mayor Segilia on National Assisted Living Week Moosic Mayor John Segilia presented a Proclamation in observance of National Assisted Living Week 2009 to Janine Starinsky, Executive Director of Oakwood Terrace. The theme for this year's observance was "Traditions of the Heart."

On Friday, July 1, 2009, (left to right) Janine Starinsky (Executive Director of Oakwood Terrace), Ellie Axford (Marketing Director, Home Instead Senior Care), and Tara Manarski (Community Education Direct Manager, Moses Taylor Hospital), participated in "The Mighty Oaks" local Basket Raffle Fundraiser recently at Boscov's Department Store. The fundraiser will benefit the Alzheimer's Association's upcoming Memory Walk to be held on October 3.
Krisi Fitzsimmons and Robin Green (of Viewmont Medical Services), Geri Sanitate (Public Relations, Compassionate Care), Beth Rossi (Marketing Director, Hospice of the Sacred Heart), and Sylvia Kolosinsky (Community Relations Coordinator at Oakwood Terrace), put the finishing touches on baskets donated for the Basket Raffle Fundraiser held recently at Boscov's Department Store. The proceeds benefit Oakwood Terrace's "Mighty Oaks" team and the Alzheimer's Association. The Memory Walk will be held on Saturday, October 3 at Mellow Park in Blakely.
